THE SUMMIT - NATIONAL SHORTHORN SALE
The American Shorthorn Association National Sale held during the 2010 National Western Stock Show (NWSS)

OMAHA, Neb., (January 26, 2010) – The American Shorthorn Association’s (ASA) National Shorthorn Sale -  “The Summit” was a success averaging $4,324 and bringing in a gross $198,900 on 48  lots including a donation lot to the American Junior Shorthorn Association (AJSA). The sale took place Sunday, January 17, 2010 during the National Western Stock Show (NWSS), and included a mixture of open and bred females, bulls, semen, embryos, pregnancies and flushes.

The sale was kicked off with the donation lot by Trans Ova Genetics for production and freezing of ten units of sexed semen. Jared Knock, Trans Ova Genetics Marketing Representative, and the AJSA board of directors were in attendance to present the certificate to the purchaser. Robert Duis, Grant Park, Ill. purchased the sexed semen for $2,250. The funds will go directly to the AJSA to help promote the youth of the Shorthorn industry.

Top lots include:
Open Female - Lot 9A, Leveldale Ruth 903W sold to Maple Stone Farm, Orton, Ontario, Canada for $7,750.
Bred Female - Lot 17 - SGK Royal Ruby 802U sold to Mandy Clark, Mercersburg, PA for $6900
Top Embryo - Lot 21 - SULL-GNCC Eldorado X CF Red Rose sold to Jason Newcom, Winchester, IN for $2,000 per embryo
Top Flush - Lot 39 - Diamond Helena Dottie 12H sold to Belle Point Ranch, Little Cedar Cattle Co., and Armstrong Farms for $15,000.
Top Bull - Lot 4 - RS DV 034 322 09 sold to McElhaney Stock Farm, PA,  JR Ranch, WA,  Koulee Shorthorns, WA, and Bruce Humble, NC for $9,000.
